Letters From School

Samantha got mail yesterday.  A postcard, printed carefully in ink, addressed directly to Samantha.  A postcard from her new teacher, Mrs. R.

How awesome is that?

Samantha read it over and over again:

Dear Samantha,

Welcome to room 3!  I am so excited for the wonderful year we will have in first grade.  You will have your own desk, new notebooks, and many fun things to explore.  I will see you soon!  :-)

Love,

Mrs. R

What a perfect way to start off the school year!  Something this simple just made such a difference in both the minds of worried parents and the mind of a child, anxious to meet her new teacher.

I'll be meeting her new teacher tonight at Back To School Night.  I'm not sure if I'm more excited to meet her for the first time, or to perhaps ask her why, oh why, 1st graders need 30 glue sticks EACH?!

Can't wait!

Yes, I think it's going to be a very good school year.

And just a side note, this same teacher approached Steve in the supermarket after recognizing him from the times she saw him picking Samantha up from school, and gushed to him about how excited she was to have Sammi in her class this year! She had expressed interest in the NDSC conference, wanting information on how to best teach to Sammi's strengths. Amazing.

Wow sounds like you lucked out in the teacher department! How awesome that she is interested in info from the convention to assist her in making this a successful year for Sammi! Love the pics of you two! Hope she has a great year!

I am interested in the answer to the glue sticks as well. Both Ethan and Aidan need a lot but not quite that many. Haha.

So excited for Sammi! We start Ethan at a new school this year and we have all kinds of mixed feelings of leaving something so comfortable but yet know the knew school holds so many great possibilities.

Oh, I remember getting a letter from my 3rd grade teacher. She was wild and crazy and played us songs with her guitar while we had quiet time. I will always remember the excitement of getting that letter. A letter. Just for ME.
So fantastic. Sammi is going to have to much fun with her teacher this year!!! :)

She sounds like a great teacher. I hope Sammi has a wonderful year! Love those pictures - and the Tshirts! Where did you find them?

Becca said...

Deborah - I got the shirts at the NDSC conference. Sadly, the people that make them have closed up shop for good, including their online business. NDSC was their last time selling their product.

30 glue sticks? lol i though we were the only ones with crazy school supplies. Elias was OK but the one of kindergarden goes from notebooks, pencil, crayons, to toilet paper, clorox, and some more cleaning products )

What a sweet gesture! Love that go getter teacher!
30 glue sticks seriously? Jason would have a heart attack, he gets furious every year when we have to buy school supplies. You know they didn't have to in England...per him! LOL
