Is It Weird That I Find This Hilarious?

When Sammi was just shy of 4 years old, we went to England to visit Steve's family.  It was my little world traveller's second trip there.  I remember being in the supermarket (always a favorite place to go on those trips!), looking through the children's books, when Steve pointed out a sweet little box set of 6 mini Peppa Pig books.  We'd heard of Peppa, but didn't know anything else beyond the name.  Samantha refused to let go of it, and it was only a couple of quid (that's the British Pound equivalent of "bucks" to you...), so we bought it.

Little did we know the craze...the obsession...we were in for.  And not just Samantha's.  We'd never actually seen a Peppa Pig episode, and based on how much Samantha absolutely adored the books, Steve ordered a dvd from England (where the show is HUGE) for her birthday.  And we were hooked.  Any adult that came over to our house for a visit was subjected to a private viewing, willing or not.  Surely, we couldn't be the only adults that appreciated it, surely I couldn't be the only person wiping the tears from my eyes and struggling to breathe between fits of uncontrollable laughter...

Around the same time, we discovered that Nick Jr. was also showing the quick, 5-minute shorts in between programming.  Currently it runs on the weekends in 4-episode blocks, and we now have about 100 episodes on our DVR - good thing they're only 5 minutes.

The appeal of Peppa to adults is kind of like the appeal of shows like Rocky and Bullwinkle, or Bugs Bunny - staged for children, yet cleverly-crafted with enough subtle hilarity to grab onto a grown-up's slightly more mature, slightly ludicrous sense of humor.  It's all in the narration...

While we have calmed down now and don't find the episodes quite as funny anymore (who could blame us, after having seen them all at least 150 times each, at Samantha's insistence?  ...anything's bound to get old that way...)  But on Saturday we were treated to an episode block that we'd never seen before, and I was quick enough to hit "record" to capture it.

It has now become my favorite.

So...is it just me, or is this completely, ridiculously funny?  (It's okay if you say it's just me...I promise I won't send anyone named Micky Knuckles over to your house to change your mind...)

There was another episode in the set about Mr. Wolf's new house (Ahhh...loook...little piggies...what's *your* house made of?) that I really wanted to post here, but I couldn't find it on the web anywhere.

Cracked. Me. Up.

But you kinda had to be there.

Probably not for me to say, but I think it's just you... love the accents, tho!

To me the funniest parts are when the animals make their animal sounds. Other than that, the grown up humor that you mention, escapes me.

Hehehe - the part that got me was the narrator saying, "Cows are not very good at climbing trees," then saying, "*Elephants* are not very good at climbing trees," then saying, "*Dogs* are not very good at climbing trees, either." So deadpan. So good.

Eh, I guess it's me...LOL

Oh, (not getting defensive!! hahaha!!) and the grown-up humor isn't innuendo or anything that would be classed specifically as "grown up," (like in Rocky & Bullwinkle or Pee Wee's Playouse, yikes...) but it's just that deadpan humor by the narrator that kids wouldn't necessarily understand, I think.

Rebecca has lived too long with an Englishman. The humor or humour as we spell it, is a lttle different.
I still think the Teletubbies are funny...... But even I am losing my English sense of humour. I now find American comedy shows funny.... HELLLLLLLLP!!!!!!

LOVE IT.

My 2 were huge Pappa fans, and I think Miss Rabbit is my absolute fave. She always has a different job in each episode, and is so hopeless and vauge.

I think it might be cultural though..... (in my own defense).

i feel like we live in the same cartoon world! Peppa the Pig!! I was just introduced to a couple months back...I laugh out loud to that one and the kids are really into it! sad when I look forward to cartoons more then "adult" shows! smiles

My middle child loves Peppa (which is so opposite his personality)! I'll pass on Teletubbies though!

Um, yeah, and for the record, I have *never* liked Teletubbies, nor have I ever found it even *remotely* amusing. LOL

You know we are just as silly. Jason would probably love Peppa pig. He has shown Aidan some of the cartoons that he watched as a kid and we just laugh at how goofy they are....

Maybe it's because I'm 6 (or end of the day, kids are asleep, my grown up drink almost gone) but I thought it was HILARIOUS. And you can NOT say there's no innuendo when the darn turtle's name is "tittles".
"Naughty tittles" ...cracks me up!

I would have loved these when I was a nanny instead of some of the shows I had to watch over and over....and over again. This was cute and I did giggle at it, at how it so bluntly stated the obvious.
