Day 7: An Apple a Day

So today is one of those 31 for 21 days when I got nothin'.  Nada.  Zilch.  Sundays are actually quite a challenge for me, as I know that readership goes right into the toilet on the weekends, so I don't want to waste a decent post.  Not to mention, I'm usually pretty busy on the weekends, cleaning, traveling, attempting to actually cook something...

Which brings me to today's wasted post.  Last weekend we went apple picking at a farm about an hour's drive from home in the rolling hills of Maryland, near Frederick.  I do have photos of that day, but just haven't gotten to them yet.  I'll save them for another weekend.  Today I'll keep it much more simple and make it look like I'm some sort of accomplished home cook who provides my family, who have perfect and flexible palates (hahahaha!!) healthy meals and snacks at all times (hahahaha!!).

Yeah, right

A fluke.

A one-off.

The making of some treats that I will likely scarf the bulk of myself within the next few days, sure to feel guilt for the next few months.

Sun Crisp apples.  Beautifully simple to look at, undeniably crisp, and tart and bright to the palate.

Homemade apple sauce.  Never did I imagine how delicious it would be.  I guess all the sugar helps...  I've reserved a fair amount in the freezer for another day.

Raisin bran-apple-carrot-walnut-banana (had an over-ripe banana to chuck into the mix) muffins.  Omg, sooooo good!!  Saved some of these in the freezer, too.

I have been trying to write a few posts ahead of time and I purposely didn't post a truly meaningful one today either. Applesauce looks awesome!

I have been not blogging on weekends for quite some time. I had meant to have some automatic simple posts together but life has been too full. ( our main computer has serious issues and using Graces IPad doesn't work well for blogging for some strange reason) I made home made applesauce many years ago and canned it. It was so so yummy.)

I never get to a computer on the weekends. No blogging or reading for me! So, how does applesauce freeze?
