But anyway, I'm not quibbling. I'm soooo proud of her. She did a great job! And I've quizzed her on some of those words after-the-fact, and she's been fine with them. I don't think she doesn't actually know them, she just gets a little fed up and doesn't want to do it anymore. It's hard to test our kids!!
Lately Sammi's been writing sentences for me, completely umprompted, on her MagnaDoodle. So cool!
Re-test is this week. Not sure if we've adequately coached her on them, but we shall see...

#6--clearly says "We". Way to go, Sammi!!!!! Her handwriting is already prettier than mine :)
Becca, do they teach phonemic patterns or is it all rote memorization?
also, # 6 is right!! The teacher in me is like "HEY! Give that girl a point back!"
Good job Sammi!
That is great that you are challenging her in this way. John gets really frustrated when we continue quizzing him and just walks away. Doesn't mean he doesn't know the answer, it just means that he is tired of answering the same question over and over again. Way to go Sammi!!
One thing that's important to keep in mind, and difficult to actually *do* as parents, is "teach, don't test," unless you've actually made it clear to the child that you're *going* to test them. It's super hard to keep in mind, and I've slipped many, many times on it, but it was kind of fun today when working on these words with her to actually test her, and she was totally on board with it. Uh, for about a third of the words... Gotta pick up the rest later...
Way to go Sammi. That is a bigger list than my other kid had at first grade and has now! They only do fifteen every week!
SO GREAT!!
I see Big for number 13. looks like she connected the i and the g. And 17 and 25 are close enough for me!!! Great work.
Wow. This is just so huge. Do they have 33 words per week?! What a girl!
Great job Sammi!
Wow!!! Way to go Sammi!!! My other daugthers only have ten spelling words a week..so that is really impressive!!!
I'm impressed!
That is awesome! Cate would get up and walk about if you tried to test her on that many words at once. We do 5 per week on our tests, I would be a wreck if we had to do a list that long.
Wow, that is a huge test for some one her age! I think she did awesome :)
I just wanted to add here that without having reviewed any of this with her over the last two weeks since the test, other than a couple of minutes total, I quizzed her this morning before school, and she got them all right!
wow great job!!!
Rock star!
