The New Bike: Pinkalicious Rides Again

5 years old, one week of dry mornings, and time for yet another big girl step...

Samantha has pretty much outgrown her tricycle.  Part of the problem is that the pedals are awkward, being so far out in front of her, and the range of motion they allow just doesn't work with her ever-lengthening legs.  We've been toying with the idea of getting her a new bike, a big girl bike, with training wheels (!!!!), but haven't really been able to make that leap yet.  But when Memom and Pops came to visit on her birthday weekend and asked what she needed for her birthday, the bike came instantly to mind.

And I knew just what bike.

The Pinkalicious bike at Toys R Us called to me a few weeks ago.  Like really, it called to me, saying I'm perfect...buy me...Sammi needs me...  How could I resist the adorable little doll carrier seat on the back and the storage bag on the front?  Way too cute, too perfect.  And to top it all off, Sammi really likes Pinkalicious (now called by her proper name as opposed to the "Pink Cupcake Delicious" moniker she'd owned just a few months ago).

Add a hot pink Barbie helmet to the mix, and we have a whole new adventure ahead of us!

Steve put the bike together lastnight, and a barefoot, pajama-clad Samantha had to have a quick test drive in the living room.  Olivia played navigator.  Something tells me that after a few more trips out she's going to have some serious stories to tell...

(Btw, don't forget to comment on my previous post for a chance to win the General Mills cereal gift pack!)

Thank you for enlightening me..... Pinkalicious. Who knew?! Weve been having trike troubles since day one. I HAVE to get hubby out to tinker with nuts and bolts, lengthening and shortening, to see if we can put everything where it needs to be. The pics made me smile- a lot!

ohh she looks so cute! :) we bought one for Elias, we found the perfect size for him , since he is little but to big for his old trycicle! he had some falls, but he likes to go fast, so im sure Sammi will love the speed too ;)

Yes! Bike! If Sammi's with the training wheels, it might be worthwhile to consider REMOVING THE PEDALS with the training wheels and letting her go. Like the skoot. Mikey is a bike nechanic (he is also a fabulous writer - I'm trying to get him to do a post a week all about bike maintenance on my blog) and that's what he did with Micah. It's way cheaper than buying something sans pedals/wheels and you can add them back later if you want. ONE BIG PLUS for doing it is that it builds balance and core muscle control naturally. Holler if you want any more details :)

I kind of wish we had found this earlier this spring! Abby is completely happy with her Disney Princess bike, but this would have been perfect! Love it!
