Wordless Wednesday: Just Chillin'

Sorry for the words...I like to hear myself think.  :-)

Watching tv before bed.  I love how she just sprawls out and lounges, like a typical teenager.  I've seen her lay like this while talking on the phone, too, getting in some early practice.

You are SO going to have your hands full when she's a teen!!

To answer Alicia, I think the long hair is actually a knee-jerk reaction to a (wrong) preconceived notion of what I had always believed people with Ds to look like (institutional bowl cut, etc., just lots of unfashionable looks) and an encounter with a friend's daughter when I was pregnant (with no prenatal diagnosis). The girl had beautiful long, braided hair and was wearing a soccer uniform, and was just such a vision of the daughter I hoped I would have. I always thought about that, and when we received Samantha's diagnosis, I suddenly felt like all that was gone. I guess the long hair is my personal re-building of that ideal child. And trust me, Sammi has turned out to be the ideal child and MORE!!!

Now to get the guts to snip off a few inches so it doesn't fall in the toilet bowl anymore...

Your blog reminds me of my life... 20 years ago. I miss those days of lounging on the bed, peeking at them while they're talking on the phone, brushing and brushing the long hair. Thank you for letting me tag along with your life! :)
