How Could It Get Any Better...

...than this???

I look at these photos and am still in shock and awe that this child will be turning 5 in less than three weeks.  FIVE.  F-I-V-E!

Happy and sad, all rolled up into one...happy because my little girl is growing up to be such a wonderful young lady, sad because my little girl is not so little anymore.

I can't imagine what my posts are going to be like on her birthday and when she starts Kindergarten in a few months!  I think there may be a fair amount of stream-of-consciousness ramblings on both occasions.  So many thoughts crowding my brain, all jostling for the next opportunity to jump out onto my keyboard and into my posts.

By the way, I was thrilled on Saturday to actually get a lot of real smiles from her in my photos.  She's learned, when you ask her to smile, to say "cheese" in the most insincere way possible, looking more like a crocodile enjoying his lunch than a happy child.  Like she's trying to appease me so I'll get the damn camera out of her face.  And when she does it, she tries to make my picture-taking life as difficult as possible by looking away from the camera at the same time.  Yeah, thanks.  However, I have, in turn, learned that if I am not getting the shots I want and I ask her for a happy face, she'll give me a true, happy-little-girl smile.  Yeah!  Thanks!!

But in these shots, she was not doing it because I wanted her to.  She was smiling just. because. she. was. happy

I would say most beautiful girl ever - except I'm a little biased towards my own, haha - so second most beautiful girl ever! Love her smile, it radiates so much happiness.

I look at the pictures of Sammi and I so wish Taylor were 5 again. It's so true that you turn around one day and they are grown.

I love Sammi's hair! I'm suffering from severe hair envy.

Such an applicable post. Little G turned 5 only 3 months after coming home and I was not happy about it. When people ask how old she is I say 5 instead of 5 and a half! ha ha! She also does the same things with photos. We havent gotten to any "happy face place" yet though. Just her screeeching NOOOOO at the top of her lungs and turning her head. Ive had to take 30-40 pics to get one good one. Praying for a new camera. (that will make it better right?! ha ha!) We will be homeschooling this fall, just need more time getting used to the ole USA and being part of the family first. She will be able to receive services but wont have to be gone all day. Baby steps.I will be glad to read all the things you have to say about it tho because we will soon be right behind you.

I can't believe she's going to be 5! I love her smile!

I can't get good smiles out of Claire either. As soon as the camera comes out she starts being cheesy!

You can tell those are genuine, full-of-life, because she's happy smiles! I don't think I've ever stopped by your blog to find a 'bad' pic of Sammi - she is so photogenic and beautiful!
