Shirley, Steve's step-mother is here to visit for a few weeks. She arrived on Wednesday from England, and will be here until mid-month when she leaves to go to North Carolina and then will return here for a week befrore leaving to go back to England. We've been having a great time, but I feel so bad that we don't have the flexibility to go out and do all of the things we'd like to do with her, since we have a nearly-two year old whose schedule we have to follow! Today we took her to visit Sammi's little beaux, Matthew, and Michelle & Brian (Matty was sure to plant quite a smooch on Samantha's cheek before we left, and Samantha absolutely loved it!). Unfortunately, Samantha is taking her time warming up to Grandma, as she does with everyone she doesn't see every day. She'll probably get used to her right when she leaves for North Carolina, and we'll have to start from scratch when she gets back!
We had a wonderful afternoon in Old Town Alexandria yesterday, where Steve snapped this shot (finally, I get to be in one of the photos!).
Exactly two years ago, I took this photo, when I was 33 weeks pregnant. Two days ago, coincidentally, I took the shadow photo of me and Samantha. Must be something about the light coming through the windows this time of year.
